As video continues to dominate the online space, how will it develop over 2024? Using the events of 2023 and current trends, I've predicted what we might see with video and social media in the New Year.
1. Ai In Video
2023 saw a huge rise in AI images and discussions about its place online.
Whilst we’ve already seen improvements in AI use in video towards the end of 2023, 2024 is going to start to expose what could be capable here.
I’m sure many videographers are concerned about this evolvement, where will the balance lie between helping make our work more efficient and taking work away from us?
2. Interactive Video
Following on from the use of AI in video, interactive/immersive video could be a big part of 2024.
In particular, I think we might see a rise in these elements used on websites as a more engaging introduction to a brand or company whilst impressing through creative adaptations.
Interactive video seems likely for shoppable content, continuously making the purchase journey easier and quicker.
The use of immersive video online/social media is something I’m not sure we’ll see in 2024 but perhaps in the next few years.
3. Short-Form & Long-Form Video
Short-form video continues to rule.
Whilst 2023 saw room for long-form videos being made through features like 10-minute uploads on TikTok, short-form video is still more widely and frequently consumed.
The place for long-form videos will be further experimented with, replacing time people may spend watching TV or on-demand apps with watching something on TikTok.
This then begs the question of, who will people be looking to to make longer videos.
4. Quality
If you’re a brand or company, viewers will often correlate the quality of the content you post to the quality of service/product.
People will still look to professional, well-produced and valuable content from brands and companies so they are reassured of their:
Quality
Values
Commitment
Reliability
With technology constantly evolving, and platforms dealing with video formats better every year, there is huge room for quality video online in 2024.
5. Mobile Friendly
If you’re still not optimising your content properly for mobile use in 2023, then you will struggle in 2024 with video marketing.
Perhaps we’ll see versions of AI to help us do this?
If we don’t, then you need to consider how framing, sound quality, and creativity can help you in video marketing in 2024.
Allow for a lot of room around your main subject and avoid cropping into videos if you can.
TO CONCLUDE
Video has dominated the online space for a while now and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
Be prepared to keep learning and adapting your social media marketing strategies and video content in 2024!
